Be advised that Wednesday, February 1, will be a practice STAAR test simulation at Westover Park. 7th graders will be taking a Writing test, while 8th graders will be taking a Reading test. Due to the 4-hour time limit on these tests, all lunch schedules this day will be pushed back significantly. Therefore, we recommend that you send a healthy snack with your student on Wednesday so that they can eat it on one of the breaks that morning.
Also, we will conduct our annual Spinal Screening, as required by state law, on Thursday, February 2. Please be aware that all students will be required to remove their shirt for this exam. For this reason, we request that girls wear a halter top, tube top, sports bra, or a two-piece swimsuit underneath their dress code appropriate clothing on this day. Boys and girls will be screened seperately by train CISD Registered Nurses. If, for religious reasons, you do not wish to have your child screened, you will need to submit an affidavit of exemption to the school nurse no later than January 30, 2012.
